Introduction

In an era where information is more than mere currency—it's a catalyst for change—the interplay between artificial intelligence (AI), digital marketing, and privacy rights has never been more critical. This edited book explores the intricate dance of data-driven governance, where AI's capabilities to process vast amounts of information are harnessed alongside digital marketing strategies to influence public opinion, shape policy, and drive governance. As governments and institutions adopt increasingly sophisticated technologies, the potential to enhance efficiency, transparency, and citizen engagement grows. However, these advancements also introduce profound ethical and privacy challenges. The balance between leveraging data for governance and safeguarding individual privacy rights is delicate and complex. This book explores how AI and digital marketing are being integrated into the fabric of governance, the impact on privacy and personal freedoms, and the emerging policies intended to regulate this dynamic landscape. Through expert analysis, case studies, and foresight into future trends, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of how data-driven strategies can coexist with fundamental privacy principles to foster an environment of trust and effective governance. This exploration is not only timely but essential for policymakers, industry leaders, and citizens alike as we navigate the evolving digital age.

Objective

The primary aim of this book is to provide a comprehensive understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital marketing are being utilized in the sphere of public or professional (industry) governance and to critically examine the implications these technologies have on privacy and public policy. The book intends to bridge the gap between technological potential and ethical governance, offering insights that are vital for policymakers, technologists, and the public.

This book targets a diverse audience, including policymakers and government officials who oversee technology and privacy policies, technology professionals and industry leaders in AI and digital marketing who are pioneering these tools, academics and researchers studying the intersection of technology and public administration, privacy advocates and legal experts concerned with data protection laws, and informed citizens interested in understanding how their data is utilized to develop digital strategies. Each group will find valuable insights and practical guidance on navigating the complexities of implementing advanced technologies in a way that respects privacy and promotes effective governance.
