Introduction

The corporate governance landscape is evolving rapidly. With the business world growing more interconnected, organizations are grappling with a multitude of fresh challenges that directly influence their governance practices. Ethical considerations, diversity imperatives, and the necessity to address social responsibilities and environmental concerns are introducing heightened levels of complexity for corporate management. This research book, "Modern Corporate Governance Strategies for Sustainable Value Creation," responds to the demand for a new paradigm in corporate governance, reflecting the challenges posed by the era of new organizational and managerial dynamics outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Responding to these challenges, a new approach is evolving in the area of corporate governance, one that puts the emphasis on creating sustainable value. Indeed, Sustainable value creation consists of the view that organizations should not only be profitable but should also be committed to the well-being of society and the environment. As the concept gains traction, investors are shifting focus from solely prioritizing financial profits to advocating for a balance between internal economic growth and advancements in sustainable business practices within companies. This shift in corporate governance is not simply a trend, but rather a necessary transformation for organizations to thrive in our modern economy. This requires regulatory and cultural changes within organizations and commitment to greater stakeholder responsibility. Indeed, both areas of corporate governance and sustainable practices are becoming increasingly intertwined as institutions respond to new organizational and managerial challenges. Given that, the evolving landscape of corporate governance reveals the increased importance of CSR considerations and sustainable value creation. Thus, the emerging relationship between corporate governance and sustainable responsibility is the core idea of our call for publication, as well as, the way in which CSR concepts are integrated into corporate governance, leading to a synergy of ethical and responsible corporate practices and governance policies. It is important to note that the traditional profit-centered view systems of corporate governance may no longer be appropriate in this dynamic environment. Yet the corporate governance landscape is constantly evolving. Through a multidisciplinary lens, Modern Corporate Governance Strategies for Sustainable Value Creation contributes to the ongoing progress of governance systems by providing thoughtful and effective guidance to organizations looking to successfully manage the changing business landscape while fulfilling their responsibilities to society and the environment. Hence, by giving priority to the creation of sustainable value, companies can deal with the complexities of a rapidly changing world, deliver real benefits to society and the environment, and sustain long-term profitability. Expanding beyond conventional limits, the book delves into the realm of governance, advocating for a framework that empowers boards to oversee managerial responsibilities effectively. This approach aims to steer companies towards enhanced efficiency, accountability, and ethical behavior.

Objective

This research book, "Modern Corporate Governance Strategies for Sustainable Value Creation," investigates the multi-dimensional aspect of governance by exploring different perspectives and practices as well as existing theories of effective governance from a sustainable value creation perspective by focusing on what we know and how we know it. As part of a multidisciplinary approach, this call for publications aims to discuss the means to establish a plural and partnership model of governance that respects the expectations and aspirations of the various stakeholders and guarantees an adaptation to challenges, both structural and cyclical, as well as to the transformation of organizational practices. Researchers and professionals are invited to this call for publications to discuss and share best practices regarding governance at the regional and national levels. It also aspires to highlight the importance of theoretical and practical advances in research on the development and management of corporate governance. It is therefore a call for publications that aim to discuss future perspectives resulting in a system of corporate governance in an era where adaptation to new geopolitical, economic, environmental, and technological challenges is unavailable for the deployment of effective policies and decisions and the improvement of performance taking into account the interests of the various stakeholders.
