Introduction

In the era of Industry 4.0, sustainable advanced manufacturing and its logistics are pivotal. Positioned strategically, ASEAN, with a nominal GDP of USD 3.6 trillion, the seventh-largest economy, and a population of 680 million, maintains direct and indirect ties to advanced manufacturing, logistics, supply chains, and consumer bases. Despite its strategic importance, the intersection of cutting-edge advanced manufacturing with sustainable logistics is underexplored in recent publications. This book aims to bridge that gap, providing a comprehensive overview of foundational principles, economic landscapes, technological innovations, and emerging aspects in sustainable advanced manufacturing and logistics within ASEAN and beyond. With a specific focus on sustainability, the book promises profound insights into advanced and sustainable methodologies for manufacturing techniques, logistics, and strategies. As the global landscape evolves, the demand for efficient and eco-friendly manufacturing processes has never been more crucial. Advanced manufacturing techniques, coupled with sustainable logistics practices, present a paradigm shift in how industries operate. This discipline goes beyond traditional approaches, integrating environmentally conscious methodologies and embracing technological advancements to foster a greener, more resilient future. In this context, this book serves to cater to the diverse needs of researchers, practitioners, and students, providing them with a foundation as well as a nuanced exploration of the ongoing sustainable evolution within the realms of advanced manufacturing and logistics.

Objective

The primary objective of this book is to integrate theoretical foundations with practical applications, providing a comprehensive understanding of sustainable advanced manufacturing and logistics within the ASEAN context and beyond. The book serves a threefold purpose: firstly, as an invaluable resource presenting the latest advancements, emerging trends, and critical analyses contributing to scholarly discourse on sustainable practices in advanced manufacturing and logistics; secondly, it offers actionable strategies, real-world case studies, and proven methodologies for immediate application in manufacturing organizations; and thirdly, it provides a holistic educational experience, fostering a profound understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of sustainable advanced manufacturing and logistics.

Target Audience

The book caters to a diverse audience, including academics, researchers, practitioners, and students. Beyond educational delivery, it serves as a valuable source for researchers contributing to scholarly discourse, offers practitioners actionable strategies and case studies for direct application, and provides students with a comprehensive educational experience encompassing theoretical foundations and practical insights. Its goal extends beyond being a mere repository of information to instill a profound appreciation for the interplay between cutting-edge manufacturing practices and sustainable logistics.
