IGI Global Takes on the Big Apple for the AERA 2018 Annual Meeting

By IGI Global on May 10, 2018
AERA logo On April 13-17, IGI Global attended the American Education Research Association (AERA) 2018 Annual Meeting in New York City. With a collection of over 750 education publications, this event was a great opportunity for IGI Global to showcase many of its best-selling titles covering various categories in the field of education and other related subject areas.

IGI Global’s booth had a great turnout, as the Marketing Manager of Books and Journals, Melissa Wagner, and Promotions Coordinator, Caroline Campbell, were delighted to meet with industry-leading researchers, who showed a great deal of interest in IGI Global’s books and journals as well as professional development opportunities.

“It was an amazing experience to meet all of the contributors and editors who make our publications possible,” expressed Wagner. “Many took interest in our various publishing opportunities and were excited to see that many of our education titles were showcased topics including accessibility, STEM education, diversity and bias, and refugee curriculum.”

Many contributors stopped by the booth to talk about their upcoming research including Dr. Krishna Bista from Morgan State University, editor of Campus Support Services, Programs, and Policies for International Students which recently won the Higher Education Special Interest Group "Book of the Year" award. Also, Dr. Dominic Mentor from Columbia University took a few minutes and stopped by the booth to explain the premise of his forthcoming publication, Computer-Mediated Learning for Workforce Development, which is slated to be released in June 2018. See video below:

In addition to IGI Global’s presence in the exhibit hall, Dr. Jenny Rankin from University of Cambridge, contributor of Handbook of Research on Innovations in Information Retrieval, Analysis and Management and Handbook of Research on Classroom Diversity and Inclusive Education Practice, hosted a professional development session, “Strategies for Sharing Your Research,” explaining how to best communicate research findings with diverse audiences.

“IGI Global has been trailblazing educational research, and the subject is rapidly becoming our best-selling subject,” explained Caroline Campbell, Promotions Coordinator. “Through our experience at AERA, many were interested in not only our titles, but the various initiatives that ensure that the research community has resources at their disposal.”

During the conference, many researchers were excited by the IGI Global’s new InfoSci-Journal database campaign and Open Access initiative, which is that any author whose institution subscribes to InfoSci-Journals, the open access article processing charge will be waived for any IGI Global journal they submit their article to as an open access submission. This initiative is to alleviate all needs to seek funding/grants for open access publishing endeavors, allowing for more freely accessible research to be disseminated worldwide.

Be sure to recommend this database to reap the benefits of this open access initiative and gain access to over 175 journals in 11 core subjects including Education, Business and Management, Engineering, and Social Sciences and Humanities. All of the journals have been indexed by prestigious indices (i.e. Web of Science, Scopus, Ei Compendex, PsycINFO, INSPEC) and hosts researcher-friendly features like no DRM, no embargo of content; a multilingual user interface, and full-text HTML and PDF viewing options.

We look forward to the continued collaboration with industry-experts and would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth at AERA Annual Conference. We look forward to seeing everyone next year and be sure to cat us at upcoming research conferences American Society for Engineering Education and Academy of Management Annual Meeting.
