IGI Global is to convert an additional 30 journals to full Gold Open Access (OA) for their 2022 volume year, which will expand their OA collection to contain 60 gold open access and one (1) platinum open access journal. These journals will be published under a CC BY license (where the authors maintain the copyright and others can distribute, adapt, and build upon the work without limitations) and be freely accessible to all.
All of these journals can be easily accessed directly on their journal webpages, and libraries are able to easily integrate them into their discovery system through IGI Global’s OA collection. Additionally, all of IGI Global’s journals are seeking submissions and authors can benefit from having their research become widely accessible. For library customers, all of these journals are available under our Subscribe to Open model for library customers. Under this model, libraries can maintain their current subscriptions to IGI Global’s OA gold journals to assist with converting these resources to OA and assist in covering:
- Enable us to keep these journals completely Gold OA and ensure continued access to the journal.
- Openly provide the latest research that undergoes a rigorous peer review process, which is supported by IGI Global’s full membership to the international Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Provide a sustainable, long-term solution to cover the costs of publishing, producing, hosting, and integrating the journals into the necessary platforms without having to request high APCs from authors.
- Empower institutions to support OA publishing independently of funding support.

These Subscribe to Open subscription costs will continue to decrease as IGI Global is able to garner more sustainable sources of OA funding for these journals.
