Abstract

The integration of Blockchain-IoT presents a promising platform for enhancing security, transparency, and efficiency in various applications. This work aims to provide a detailed overview of the state of the art in blockchain-IoT-based solutions. In this work, the authors begin by introducing the basic concepts of blockchain and IoT, highlighting their key features and their individual challenges. Next, this work explains benefits of combining these technologies, such as decentralized data management, immutable records, and enhanced trust and security. Further, this work explains the architecture and components of blockchain-IoT systems, including smart contracts, consensus mechanisms, and data integrity verification techniques.

1. Introduction

Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) integration refers to the merging of these two transformative technologies to create a secure, transparent, and efficient ecosystem for managing and exchanging data and value in the context of IoT devices. The IoT involves a network of interconnected physical devices, sensors, and machines that collect and exchange data over the internet. These devices generate vast amounts of data, enabling real-time monitoring, automation, and decision-making in various industries such as healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and smart cities. On the other hand, blockchain technology provides a decentralized and tamper-resistant ledger that records and verifies transactions in a transparent and secure manner. It operates on a peer-to-peer network where multiple participants validate and maintain the integrity of the data stored on the blockchain. Note that integrating blockchain with IoT can address several challenges associated with the current IoT infrastructure, including data security, privacy, trust, and interoperability. Here are some key aspects of blockchain-IoT integration:
