Description & Coverage
Description:

In the wake of the relentless COVID-19 pandemic, few industries have been as profoundly affected as the global media landscape. From the sudden halt in film production to the closure of theaters, the once-familiar terrain of entertainment and media has undergone colossal shifts. Yet, despite its undeniable impact, there remains a significant gap in a scholarly examination of the pandemic's multifaceted repercussions on the cinema and audiovisual media sector. Current literature predominantly focuses on Western experiences, leaving untapped the diverse narratives of transformation, resilience, and representation that have emerged across the globe.

Survival Strategies and Transformations of the Global Media Industry: Mitigating the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, is a seminal book that tackles the urgent need for comprehensive analysis and insight into the pandemic's far-reaching influence on media. As academia grapples with uncharted territories, this volume emerges as a beacon of knowledge, addressing three pivotal objectives.

Firstly, the book delves deep into the ongoing metamorphosis of the global audiovisual media and cinema industries. Through a global lens, it unravels the transformational journey from production to distribution and exhibition. Secondly, the book meticulously examines the survival strategies devised by media practitioners and cineastes in the face of adversity. These strategies shed light on the resilience that has kept the industry afloat and responsive to the new reality. Lastly, the book ventures into the diverse representations of the pandemic across media, highlighting the pandemic's societal, cultural, and political reflections.

This groundbreaking volume stands as the much-needed bridge connecting academia, media practitioners, policymakers, and enthusiasts. Addressing the pressing knowledge gap, it unlocks a comprehensive understanding of the pandemic's influence, beckoning readers to navigate unexplored dimensions of media and cinema. As we stand at the crossroads of transformation, Survival Strategies and Transformations of the Global Media Industry: Mitigating the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic paves the way for insightful exploration, offering guidance through the intricate tapestry of pandemic-induced change.
