Reviews & Statements

This work sheds light on novel drug delivery systems, emphasizing connections between pharmaceutical, biomedical, and medical sciences. The book’s international contributors include those in pharmaceutical sciences, bioinformatics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical nanotechnology, and chemical technology. After an overview of therapeutic applications, the book presents material on liposomes, niosomes, pharmacosomes, transfersomes, protransfersomes, biosimilars, liquid crystals, and dendrimers.

– ProtoView Reviews

This is a concise overview of the cutting-edge research being done in drug delivery. Development of novel drug delivery systems requires an integration of basic and applied science principles, and this book can serve as a handy reference on the scientific perspectives of novel drug delivery systems.

– Rahmat M. Talukder, PhD, RPh, West Coast University School of Pharmacy, Doody’s Medical Reviews

This book highlights the rapid evolution of drug delivery systems in pharmaceutical science. As a volume in the Advances in Medical Technologies and Clinical Practice (AMTCP) book series, it collects the latest work from experienced researchers from a variety of scientific specialties.
Fifteen chapters are grouped into 10 sections based on topic similarities. Some of the featured areas of research include liposomes, pharmacosomes, biosimilars, liquid crystals, and nanotechnology. Each chapter begins with an abstract which provides brief background and summary information for the research to follow. There is a generous use of headings and subheadings, bullet points, and illustrations. The volume also contains solid introductory and concluding sections. With backgrounds in chemical engineering, pharmaceutics, etc., contributors write on a variety of specialized topics, such as the variety of vesicular delivery systems, how dendrimer-based nanocarriers work, the application of smart hydrogels, and much more. The opening chapter offers a good overview of the latest developments in drug delivery systems as a whole. References are listed at the end of each chapter and compiled again at the end of the book, alongside brief contributor biographies and an index.
Targeted to advanced students, educators, and those in the pharmaceutical or medical profession, this title is most appropriate for an academic or medical library. Readers can find further research gathered in the Novel Approaches for Drug Delivery volume in the AMTCP series.
