Reviews & Statements

After reviewing the importance of strategic planning and competitive advantage, Hua (National U. of Singapore) explains the value knowledge management, innovation, business process re-engineering, and software tools can add to small construction companies. The strategic alignment model (SAM) helps conceptualize and direct the strategic management of IT for supporting the interrelationships between external and internal components and the integration between business and functional domains. A study of small- and medium-sized construction companies in Singapore examines their practices for acquiring new capabilities through IT, and applies SAM to evaluate their use of IT as a strategic resource to maximize their potential.
