Description & Coverage
Description:

In light of the expensive nature of quantitative research, such as experiments, researchers must seek other methods of understanding the world around them. As such, new qualitative methods are gaining ground in the modern research community.

Enhancing Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research with Technology explores the integration of new digital tools into the research process. Including current information on data visualization, research design, information capture, as well as social media analysis, this publication serves as an ideal reference source for academicians, scientists, information specialists, business managers, and upper-level students involved in interdisciplinary research.

Coverage:

The many academic areas covered in this publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Data Extraction
  • Data Processing
  • Human-Information Interaction
  • Literature Reviews
  • Primary Information Collection
  • Research Methods
  • Research Presentation
Reviews & Statements

Contributors from information, education, and other disciplines describe how information technology can enhance qualitative and mixed-method research. They cover setting the parameters for technology use: qualitative and mixed-method theories and models; all-environments information collection; technology-enhanced data management, data processing, data visualization, and human-machine analysis; data acquisition and extraction from social media platforms; cases of technology-enhanced qualitative and mixed-methods research; and technologies for presenting the results of qualitative and mixed-methods research.

– ProtoView Book Abstracts (formerly Book News, Inc.)

A practical book which places the need for rigor and thoughtful research design at the forefront of the research endeavor, and then goes on to show how technology can enhance the available data pool, extract data from the pool and then help to manage the research project, enhance the data analysis and possibly enhance the presentation of results. Recommended.
