Our body is composed of 5 elements; the diseases are caused due to misbalance and more or less existence of these elements. Our fingers in palm represent five elements like thumb demonstrates the fire, point finger shows air, middle finger for sky, ring finger for earth and little finger for water elements. One can protect the health and omit the illness by balancing these elements (Rastogi et al., 2019j).
Pran Mudra
Prana vayu is very important vayu among 5 main and 5 subordinate Vayu exists in the body. Prana vayu is the breath, right from nose till naval it covers the space. The major part of our body is PRITHVI (earth) and JAL (water). Joining the finger tips, balancing these elements results in increasing stamina, vitality, strength and IMMUNITY. By doing this mudra, the flow of vital (life) energy starts as if life dynamo has been started. While meditating along with this mudra, the whole body feels the vibrations, making a person physically and mentally strong (Cortes et al., 2000).
Benefits of Pran mudra, by regular practice we can overcome *chronic fatigue, general debility, low endurance. *impaired immunity, *mental tension, anger, irritability, jealousy, pride, restlessness. *inflammatory disorders, forgetfulness, *scanty burning urination, *burning red, dry eyes, cataract, *dry red hot aging skin, skin rashes, urticaria (very rare skin disease, no medicine invented) and leprosy. *Any ailment of eyes is cured, eyesight improved. *The element of earth, water and fire are joined through fingers, so this helps in removing obstacles present in blood vessels resulting in improved blood circulation. *This mudra removes impurities present in blood and stimulates joy, energy, delight, zeal, hope and perseverance. *Pran mudra helps to remove any kind of deficiency of vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K. All vitamins are provided by this mudra. *Any type of cramps in muscles or veins and pain in the legs are cured. *During fasting time this mudra helps to control hunger and thirst. *To treat any disease, PRAN MUDRA is like a friend that helps other mudras. *To cure insomnia, jnana mudra (Gyan mudra/ Chin mudra) is to be followed by prana mudra. To cure diabetes Apaan mudra is to be followed by Prana mudra. *Numbness in any parts of the body is cured by Prana mudra (Pl. refer Figure 1) (Ritchie et al., 2019).
