Beginning his academic journey in Nigeria, Abdul-Maliq earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Finance from Ahmadu Bello University in 1983, followed by multiple Master's degrees in Banking and Finance from Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Ibadan.
