Raquel Huete

Raquel Huete is an Associate Professor in Tourism Studies at the University of Alicante (Spain). She holds a PhD in Sociology from the UA and a BA in Tourism Management from the Official Tourism School in Madrid. She is a researcher at the University Institute for Tourism Research at UA. She has taught at the UA delivering classes on sociology of tourism, social research and local development. In addition to giving worldwide lectures on second home tourism and urban sustainability, she has guest lectured at events and conferences worldwide and contributes to the tourism community through a number of boards and memberships. Dr Huete has been a researcher in about 50 R & D projects and research contracts. She has been a principal researcher in several projects. This work has been reflected in more than 60 articles published in scientific journals and chapters in collective books. Prior to teaching at the university she worked as a travel agent and tourist guide and also she held several positions related to Higher Education Management. She held a position as Director-General for Tourism at the Region of Valencia Government from 2016 to 2018. Her expertise areas are: public opinion in tourism, relationship between tourism and migrations, sustainability and smart tourism destinations.
