Monica R. Brown

Monica R. Brown is Professor of Special Education at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada (UNLV). Prior to entering higher education, she spent 13 years as a classroom special education teacher. She received her Ph.D. from UNLV in 2001. Dr. Brown identifies as a Black scholar in that she focuses on research for, with, and by Black people. Specifically, her research centers on issues relative to race and disability as they relate to Black PreK – 12 students with and without disabilities and their families. Currently, she has 40+ publications, as well as 75+ conference presentations.
