Ansar-Ul-Haque Yasar

Prof. dr. ir. Ansar-Ul-Haque Yasar (EUR ING) was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He finished his Bachelors of Computer Software Engineering degree from Foundation University Islamabad in 2005. Afterwards, he joined Linkoping University Sweden and finished his Masters in Computer Science and Engineering degree (specializing in Communication and Interactivity) in 2007. In November 2007, he joined the DistriNet research group at the Department of Computer Science of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and started his PhD research on context-based communication in large scale vehicular networks under the supervision of Prof. dr. ir. Yolande Berbers. During the course of his PhD studies, Dr. Yasar was involved in the Context-Aware Local Service Fabrics in Large Scale Ubicomp Environments (CoLaSUE) project funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). After finishing his PhD in Engineering in August 2011, he has worked as a postdoc researcher and a (part-time) professor at the Transportation Research Institute (IMOB), Hasselt University, Belgium since October 2011. At IMOB, he is working on the European FP7 project DATA SIM (2011 - 2014). Furthermore, a part of his current job includes international collaborations, projects, and business development at IMOB. He is also responsible for the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) course for the masters of transportation sciences students at UHasselt. His research interests include ubiquitous computing, context-aware communication, VANETs, intelligent transport systems, and mobility management. He has (co -) authored several research articles in renowned international journals, conferences, books, and workshops. Furthermore, he has been involved in organization of many international peer-reviewed conferences, summer schools, and other scientific events. Dr. Yasar is also a Technical Expert to evaluate project proposals submitted to the EUREKA - EuroStars framework. Dr. Yasar is multi-lingual with Urdu & Punjabi as native languages, has working proficiency of English, basic knowledge of Dutch (Flemish), and basic knowledge of Swedish.
